Sharing The Gospel

- Pastor Corey Erman

This is a simple script for sharing the Gospel and leading people to Christ:

After making some conversation with the person and breaking the ice, ask the person the following question:

If you died right now, are you sure that you will go to heaven?

Wait for the answer — mostly likely you will hear something like this, “Well, I hope so,” or “I don’t know,” or “I think that I am a good person,” etc.

I have good news for you. God loves you and He has a great plan for your life. However, let me tell you what the Bible says:

The Bible says, “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Even though you might be a good person, are you good enough to get to heaven? Because God is going to judge you according to His perfect Law. The Bible also says, “the wages of sin is death” which is eternal judgment in hell (Romans 6:23a).

If the person thinks that he is a good person and that God will probably not judge him, here is an opportunity to use the Ten Commandments and bring conviction of sin upon the person and use the Law of God to bring knowledge of sin.

The good news is that because God loves you, He made a way for you to be forgiven of all your sins and receive eternal life with Him in Heaven. The Bible says, “The gift of God is eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 6:23b). The Bible also says, “God demonstrated His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

This is an opportunity to share with the person about the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross in order to pay the price for our sins. This is called redemption. Jesus died in our place in order to satisfy God’s wrath against sin. He rose from the dead to give us eternal life. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever should believe in Him shall not perish and have eternal life (John 3:16).

The only way to receive this free gift of salvation is to repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ by accepting Him as your personal Lord and Savior. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).

Ask the person if you can pray for them:

Lord, I ask that you bless and help my friend. Today, he has heard the good news. I pray that you open his eyes to see and touch his heart to save him. Thank you that you love him. In Jesus name. Amen.

Ask the person if they are ready to accept Jesus Christ and pray:

Lord Jesus come into my heart. Forgive all my sins. I repent. I accept you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for dying for me. Help me to fulfill God’s plan. Amen.
